Privacy policy

Last updated 23 October 2026

In short: Moonkeep does not collect your data. What you log stays encrypted on your own iPhone or iPad. We have no account system and no servers that hold your health information, and we never sell or share anything about you.

Who we are

Moonkeep is made by Nicholas Xerri, an independent developer based in Malta ("we", "us"). For anything about privacy, email support@moonkeepapp.com.

What stays on your device

Everything you enter in Moonkeep stays on your devices, in an encrypted database that only the app can open after Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. That includes period dates, symptoms, moods, temperatures, ovulation tests, the mode you've chosen and your settings.

Apple Health

If you choose to connect Apple Health, Moonkeep reads and writes three types of data: menstrual flow, basal body temperature and ovulation test results. You pick each type in Apple's own permission screen and can change your choice at any time in the Settings or Health app.

Backups and exports

Because nothing is in the cloud, you can make an encrypted backup file in the app (Settings, then Encrypted backup). You choose where to save it, such as the Files app, and it can only be opened with the passphrase you set. We never see the passphrase and can't recover it. A doctor report PDF is created only when you ask for one, and you decide whether to share it.

Purchases

Moonkeep Plus is bought through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment and tells the app only that Plus is unlocked. We never receive your name, email or payment details. See Apple's privacy policy.

What we don't do

Crash reports

If you have turned on "Share with App Developers" in your iPhone's privacy settings, Apple may share anonymous crash and usage reports with us. You control this in Settings, under Privacy & Security and then Analytics & Improvements. These reports contain no health data.

Support reports

Moonkeep can make a support report for you under Settings, Help. It lists the app version, your iOS version and iPhone model, roughly how much free space your iPhone has, whether Plus and a few settings are on, and recent error codes rounded to the hour. It never includes anything you logged, your dates, your mode or any personal details. You see the whole report before anything happens, and it's only sent if you choose to share or email it yourself. Moonkeep doesn't send it, and error codes are kept in memory only and cleared every time the app locks.

When you contact us

If you email support, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use them only to answer you. We delete support emails 12 months after the conversation ends. Please don't send health details we don't need.

This website

moonkeepapp.com uses no cookies, analytics or trackers. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes basic connection data such as IP addresses for a short time to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.

Children

Moonkeep is meant for people aged 13 and over. Younger users should use it with a parent or guardian.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete personal data we hold, which in practice means support emails only, since we hold nothing else. To delete everything in the app, use "Delete all data" in Moonkeep's settings or delete the app. Data you have written to Apple Health stays there until you remove it in the Health app.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information and Data Protection Commissioner in Malta at idpc.org.mt, or to the data protection authority where you live.

Changes

If a future feature needs to send any data off your device, it will be off by default, it will ask for your consent first, and we will update this policy before it ships. The date at the top shows the latest version.
